New Skin Care Regimen! Revealed!

olay_definity

If you all recall, a few weeks ago, I did a post about wanting a new skin care regimen. I asked everyone what they thought in hopes of getting some tried and true advice on what really works. Well, after pouring over the thirty plus comments on that post I made a decision. The name that kept coming up over and over was Oil of Olay, or ‘Oil of Old Lady’ as some called it (brilliant). I thought to myself, hey this brand has been around for ages and they must have all the science and technology that any of the other companies have, maybe more. The price was right too. With two kids, our family is definatly on a budget and spending exorbitant amounts of money on washes and creams is sort of ridiculous when preschool bills are looming.

I went to the Oil of Olay website and took their skin care test. The test tailors a regimen of products based on your answers. When all was said and done the line of Olay product that was recommended to me was the Definity line. What I was looking for was something to help with my uneven skin tone, dark spots and fine lines. I went out and purchased the four products the test suggested. I got a cleanser, tinted moisturizer, night cream and a fourteen day intensive repair system. It all cost under a hundred bucks.

I’ve been using the products for only four days now and I swear on Lola and Fritz that I already see a difference. I love this shit! Honestly I’m astonished at how good I already feel about my skin. It seems almost impossible that in such a short amount of time the stuff is clearing my dark spots and giving me a total glow. The tinted moisturizer that I use in the morning after I cleanse gives me a super even look and is really, really light. I would haver never thought to buy my skin care products at K-mart (I am more of a Sephora girl) but I’m loving my new Olay regimen. Thanks for the advice girls!

Good Time Swaddle Time

swaddle-steps2

Let me just say this…I love a good swaddle. Wait, not on me, on the baby. But maybe I should ask BD to swaddle me later on the living room floor with the couch blanket. Oooo that sounds hot…if by couch blanket I meant weiner. Ew, I said weiner. Anyway swaddling is magical in that, in many cases, it puts your baby right to sleep. Fortunately Lola is pretty much the chillest baby ever but, sometimes I can just tell it’s time for a nap even though she’s kinda thrashing her arms about, that’s when I know it’s swaddle time. I go for my best stretchy soft cotton baby blanket and basically mummify her (except her head). I’m not even exaggerating when I say, once I’m done, I look away and then back and she’s asleep. I wish it worked on Fritz. That would rule.

Afraid Of the Dark??

nightofthedemons

monster_repellent

So far we haven’t yet encountered any imaginary monsters or spooky guys that hide in the closet. Fritz seems to be a no fear kinda kid and when he does see something that is ’scary’ he just let’s us know ‘Yea. That’s scary’ in an animated kind of way. I’m assuming the day will eventually come when he sees something shocking on TV or conjures up a fantasy in his head and totally freaks out, so it’s great to know that this Monster Repellent spray from Fairytale Wishes is available. Their credo is ‘…A new naturally derived aromatherapy line that is designed for parents to help their kids get through common childhood anxieties.’ Genius! Fairytale Wishes also offers Sweet Dreams Spray, Super Hero Spray and Happy Camper Spray. Monster Repellent Spray available at Psyco Baby, $10.

Anyone having trouble with monsters under the bed yet? What age? What are you doing to soothe the situation?

Mukluks vs. Uggs

black

First let me say this, I’ve owned Uggs, worn them the winter I was pregnant with Fritz, they’re comfy as hell but I stepped in poop in them last winter and decided to chuck um. Now, here is my dilemma, do I purchase another pair of Uggs for comforts sake or do I go with these Mukluks? I am 85% wanting the Mukluks vs. another pair of Uggs. I’m not crazy about the little bit of beading but remember this is purely for comfort and winter warmth. They would be absolutely perfect if I could somehow replace that beading with silver pyramid studs. Maybe a shoe guy could do it? Help please.

Cool Product Alert!

relmrborigfoamsoap

If soap was happiness in a bottle, Mr. Bubble Foam Soap would be thy name. It’s pink, comes out of the can like whip cream and makes baths at least five million times more fun. Fritz HATES getting water dumped on his head when I have to rinse out shampoo; so right before I commence rinsing, I just give him a little squirt for distraction and he’s putty in my hands. Mr. Bubble Foam Soap is a must have for bath time hi-jinx. If you’ve tried it you know what I’m talking about. Anyone wanna co-sign? Get it while the gettins good.

Prospect Park West

prospectparkwest

After reading an article in this Thursday’s NYT style section about the newly released book Prospect Park West by Amy Sohn I ran out and grabed myself a copy. The book is a work of fiction but a very realistic dishy, drama filled, mommy romp that takes place in Park Slope Brookyn. I lived in Park Slope for a few years so I’m quite familiar with the Park Slope socioeconomic structure and parenting scene. I gave birth to Fritz at Park Slope Methodist and visit my midwife there monthly. I still go to the 9th st. playground for a change of scenery and visit my best friend who lives on 5th ave. I need to get my head out of this depressing Chuck Phalinik book, Haunted, and I think Prospect Park West is just what the Dr. ordered. Review to come….

Update 9/13/09  Getting totally sucked in. What can I say, I love Mommy Lit!
