Comedy is a natural high for me, or anybody for that matter. Amateur, professional, whatever! I can laugh at almost anything. But when you go to see someone like Louie C.K. you realize the power of a great comedian. I first saw his HBO special Chewed Up at my parents house one day when my dad was going on and on about it. I laughed for the entire hour. I don’t think it’s overzealous to use the phrase ‘comedic genius’.
My BFF and I both realized we adored him around the same time and when I saw that tickets we’re going on sale 2 months ago I grabbed um for us. So last night we headed to Carolines geeking out over the fact we were getting to see him live. The man did NOT disappoint. His observations about ordinary things like getting off an airplane and putting kids to bed are so on point and outrageous that you double over hysterics and pound on the table. I laughed to the point of crying several times and left with a humongous smile on my face. If you have never see a Louie C.K. special (Chewed Up or Shameless) get one this weekend. Tell me what you think. If you don’t love him you may be broken.

It’s the strangest thing. All of a sudden I feel mega pregnant. Up until a week or two ago I was going about my business not really ‘feeling’ pregnant . My belly wasn’t protruding all that much and I was too busy running around after Fritz to really notice. Then ‘BAM!’ my tummy got round and I started to feel flutters. Today I’m 4 3/4 months pregnant. I have 20 weeks until my due date. That doesn’t sound all that bad…right? I’m going for my routine monthly check up today and on Aug 11th I’ll have another sonogram where we’ll will find out the sex. This is starting to get interesting people. Another pregnancy note. I love wear form fitting clothes. American Apparel is my clothier of choice at the moment. I feel like I could only get away with this stuff wielding this bump. How cute is the above bodysuit!

I just wanted to thank Sona aka SoNasty for this great tee by Brendan Donnelly. Unforch the line is discontinued…suckassssss! But he still has a really funny blog. Read it and laugh.

If you live in NYC The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is not to be missed. I’ve talked about it on here before but I cannot stress enough how great this place is. We went today and had an absolute blast. In fact I suggest becoming a member. We got a membership as a gift for Christmas (cliche alert) and it really is the gift that keeps on giving. A one year membership is $75 or each visit is $7.50 per person, children 1 and under are free. The museum is super friendly and well kept. Each time we go Fritz loves it more and more. He squeals in delight over practically everything from the bug making station to the insane instrument jungle gym thing. The kids can touch and play with absolutely everything and shockingly nothing is gross looking from all the handling. The museum gives ordinary play spaces a run for their money. If you do buy a membership you can visit the museum any time and there are a million things to do including exhibits, a library, cafeteria, outdoor pavilion, classes and more. It’s educational and social. If you live in the 5 boroughs it’s worth the trip. Do not sleep on The Brooklyn Children’s Museum! Find out more about the museum here and if you are a fan and want to do donate please do so here.

Last night pretty much went as I predicted. It felt great to get out of the house. I got all dolled up and felt like hawt stuff. First I wanted to go somewhere kinda nice for dinner so we went to a little spot in Williamsburg called Marlow & Sons. Ironically we met up with friends who had their 2 year old with them. I was just glad mine was at home as I watched her squirm in her mothers lap inches from repeatedly breaking her water glass and rejecting a summer squash soup with drizzle of truffle oil. The longing for booze set in when fond memories of Dirty Martinis danced in my head. I ate soft cheese, only a little, which I’m pretty sure your not supposed to do when your pregnant. The meal was lovely despite our waiter being a d-bag. Drink Count: Sam 0, BD 3 Vodka Tonics. No complaints…yet.
Next we showed up at our friends party at a restaurant/bar called My Moon which has a great outdoor area. I decided to indulge and got a glass of red wine to sip. Yum. It was nice to see some friends and people I hadn’t seen in a while. As I admired an acquaintances new Restylane lips (they looked natural and gorgeous) they brought out the cake. Now we’re talking. Red Velvet, my favorite. Wait, not so fast, I was cautioned that the cake was of the Chronic persuasion. Drink and Weed Cake Count: Sam 1 Glass of Shiraz, BD 3 more Vodka Tonics & 3 pieces weed cake. So, since I found out I was pregnant I haven’t been ‘out’ once. And by ‘out’ I mean to a bar/club/party/house party/roof top party ect. Why would I? Well tonight we have a sitter and I’m going to a birthday party…at a bar. The fun starts at 9 pm. I feel like some kind of freak. I have no desire to go out at night, and it’s not like I have much of a chance to anyway with Fritz at home. Being pregnant and having a toddler at home literally kills your nightlife. Duh, how could it not? It’s hard. Typically I’m the life of the party, bopping around the club saying my hellos, drinking vodka tonics and what not. Not tonight. I can remember when I was pregnant with Fritz, I went out a few times even once with a fairly large belly to a night club. Even though the reactions were hilarious it wasn’t fun. I would get jealous and bitchy. Watching everyone getting drunk, looking thin, smoking and being wild was a tough pill to swallow for me. Mmmmm pills. I felt a little left out to say the least. Tonight is just a low key birthday so I think I can handle it. I’m kinda excited to get out of the house for something other than a movie or dinner but we’ll see how it goes. Any other pregnant peeps find it hard to go out amongst the non pregnant people of the world at night when there is drinking/partying/dancing/thumping bass involved??

I got my oh so official #1 Mom pendant on my very first mothers day. I thought it was high time I dusted it off and put it to good use.

*FYI Contrary to popular belief kids don’t like Carrot Cake Cupcakes. Not Fritz anyway. Oh well, more for me and my fetus!

1. My Black on Black Chucks. They’re comfortable, go with everything and pretty bad ass. No brainer! Zappos $45 (overnight shipping FREE!!!)
2. Skin Trip. The perfect summertime lotion. Just picked myself up a brand new bottle in Woodstock but it’s also available at Whole Foods!
