Yes, Ur Highness!

I never in a million years thought I would ever treat a guy the way I treat my son. He says ‘Juicy”, I’m off running. He says “Where’s Percy?”, I’m on my hands and knees digging through toys. He says “Bounge Bub (Translation Sponge Bob)”, I flick on Nick. I’ll wipe the kids nose with my bare hand and then wipe it on my dress if necessary. I clip his toe nails in his sleep for Christ sakes. If he asked me to break dance for him in the living room I’d probably do it. Or maybe I’d do that for anyone? Anyway, this is what being a mommy is all about.

Your toddler becomes a little king (or princess) until he can manage pouring his own juice, blowing his own nose and tying his own shoes. And it’s different than a baby because they can’t ask for or demand stuff, you just do for them instinctively. These toddlers are a different story. You will do anything for them, more than you will for any other man you have ever had in your life. I love my husband to death but if his boogers got anywhere near my dress I’d have a cow. If he demanded 3 juices in a row and then for me to put on a DVD (I hated no less)…forget it, I’d go ballistic. By no means do I let Fritz walk all over me but lets just say I fulfill he’s needs, of which there are many…all day…every day. As I do this I try to teach him well. How to treat people when he does need/want something. I always make him say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and have him return his cup to the sink or help me pick up toys.

The dynamic between mother and child is unique. I still see it with my own mother. She would give me anything I requested out of her jewelry box without hesitation. She lets me lounge on her couch and will make me coffee if I was to ask for it. She always did these things for me but now I think I finally understand why. My point is we love our children so much we will come out of ourselves for them. They come first. Obviously it is crucial to balance this with discipline and teaching. We don’t want to spoil them or have them not respect us but still, we will do practically anything for them…’ The royal tushie is clean your Highness’!

Seriously! Vaughn demands his juice a few times a day but in order to make him happy drinking it, I have to set up two pillows in the middle of our bed for him to lay against and put on Thomas. He absolutely will not have it any other way and I do it with a smile every time. And that’s just one example. I don’t know how things became so unbalanced, but I’m giving in for now because when the new baby comes, it’s gonna be a huge wake up call for the poor little prince!

awww <3
oh and yes our moms totally should swap knitting patterns! she actually hunted around forever to find a good pattern for that cuddle sack, one that didnt require to many modifications because we cant use super heavy duty yarn here, its too freaking hot, even in the winter.
i have some little booties that my great grandma knitted for our whole family, i’d love to see the ones your mom made.
