My 2 Sense: Nicki Minaj Stupid Hoe

by samantha on February 1, 2012

So, apparently there’s a whole bunch of controversy over this video. I guess BET has chosen to not air the video, but they’re also not owning up as to why. I don’t really get it. I guess if it were dudes calling chicks stupid hoes it would be fine, but I’m actually not here to talk about the controversy. I’m here to give my opinion if anyone cares. And I’d really like to hear yours as well.

Aaaahhhhhhhh!!! I fu*king HATE this song. I would probably confess to murder if you locked me in a room and played it more than 3 times. It sounds like finger nails on a chalkboard to me. I think everything she’s saying is nothing short of stupid and ridiculous. But I’m also not a Nicki Minaj fan. I think her flow sucks and some (not all) of her wigs are gawd awful. But that being said…I kinda love the video. I’m a sucker for bright colors and I really like her makeup. That’s it. I hope I never have to hear the song again. Thank you and good night.

I think this song is probably her most annoying thus far…and that’s saying a lot. I feel like she’s just always trying to get a reaction and a rise out of people, but that’s more Nicki Minaj “politics” than I care to get into.

Her videos are definitely entertaining though. I’m wondering why BET chose to ban it…

I just don’t get Nicki Minaj. I guess because I grew up on Lil Kim and Foxy. This is just garbage, it’s crap like this that is ruining hip hop. Im all for female empowerment and making a name for yourself in an industry that’s basically run by men but come on! The only Nicki verse I can listen to is the one she did on Monsta, other than that I can’t deal. I actually like her singing better than her rapping. I’m a fan of Hype Williams so I watched the video, I wish I had it on mute cause now I have this crappy song stuck in my head =(

@Jules Exactly. Didn’t Lil’ Kim already claim the Black Barbie dressed in Bulgari??? Minaj’s flow and lyrics are so terrible. Le sigh. We are officially old school.

IT’S CRAP. Totally over produced crap. And so frustrating for me to watch as a musician.

didn’t finish watching because its SO ANNOYING but it lacks creativity. she could have done so much with that fun beat. im not a fan of hers but i know she’s popular for some weird reason. love her makeup too but that’s about it!

I agree with everyone, and I also feel that she is the wrong person to be singing this song because I feel that she is herself stupid.

… she sounds like kelis / when she had an identity crisis after breaking up with nas. just saying.

vv February 3, 2012 at 11:03 pm

on the positive side, she has a nice toosh!

BET probably banned the video to make it even more “scandalous” or controversial. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was all just a well thought out publicity stunt from her label to get more video hits. she’s a black woman making a song about “Stupid Hoes”, which in the song she’s basically clowning the women she finds to be “stupid hoes” blah blah blah. This song is a joke, just like Nicki Minaj’s rap career. I’m all for female empowerment, which is why I miss the days of the all female cameo rap song (i.e “ladies night”) so this song to me is just yet another reason why women like her perpetuate the “stupid hoe” stereotypes. Not to mention the objectification of black women in mainstream media. The big ass shot, and her black face magazine spreads are just mindless setbacks. All in All, Nicki Minaj needs to go.

I am a Nicki Minaj fan and I this is a dumb song/video.

I usually find myself on the fence with Ms. Minaj. Sometimes I find her use of metaphorical influence in her song to be very exciting. This however is not one of those times. I am not surprised at her use of the word specifically because I could expect nothing else from a female who has a name built around sex. What I am mad about is that young girls are now running around calling people stupid hoes. The video is similar to every other video she does, I have not been impressed in a long time. I now feel like she is starting to become very predictable and what she has to do is revamp herself and give her fans something new or she will end up building her career on bullshit that she calls music. We get it you are weird but to me it should be something effortless and not so forced. Shorty is pushin’ a little too hard!!!
