Coffee Tawlk! Nadia G’s Bitchin’ Kitchen

by samantha on July 13, 2012

The other night I was sitting at my island working on some writing and watching my internet cable app on my iPad. Quick aside, for all those NY’ers who have Time Warner you should know that they have an app that let’s you watch nearly all your cable channels on your iPad. Anyway, it was kinda late and I was scrolling through the shows on live TV trying to find something to watch in the background when I stumbled upon Nadia G’s Bitchin’ Kitchen on the Cooking Channel. I was immediately taken with this sexy young Italian cook with glitter around her slanty eyes and shiny long red finger nails. While most chefs are wearing clogs, Nadia is rocking Louboutin’s. I’ve never seen such a stylish professional chef, no one has.

If you threw Hot Topic, Gwen Stefani and Mark Bitman in a blender you would get Nadia G’s Bitchin’ Kitchen. I immediately wanted more. In fact I want to watch back to back episodes all night long, and simultaneously cook her recipes. I love her weird accent and her silly vignettes. I only caught the last 15 minuets of the show in which she was whipping up a hangover smoothie (which I made the next day, not because I had a hangover but because it looked delicious!) and then sang in a music video about doing the walk of shame.  I’m going out to buy all her cookbooks today. And tonight I’ll find a way to get as much Nadia G in as I can. She’s my new obsession. Have you guys seen this girl? Discuss!

She’s great, but as much as I love watching her, I’m positive my husband enjoys it even more. He’s never demonstrated so much interest in cooking…

That accent is weird. We couldn’t rest until we figured it out – she’s from Montreal but from an Italian family in Montreal. So it’s French/Canadian/Italian.

Oh, and have you seen the song where she sings about getting hate mail because she talks with her hands? Good times.

I don’t even know I how I stumbled upon this blog, but I am glad I did. It is very cool, and I think you are a super cool mom.

I live north of the border, so when I saw this particular post I felt the need to comment. The first time I saw Nadia G I was watching a local morning show, and she happened to be on it. She is Canadian, as the post above said, so her weird accent is French/Canadian. She was so much fun to watch. She is fun, flirty, stylish, and fit as hell.

hahaha omg yes! I didn’t know she was still on tv. I saw her on the cooking channel sometime last year and had to watch all the episodes back to back. Sorry to say, I could not wrap my head around that accent and thought “Surely this can’t be a real accent”. She sounded like she was from Transylvania or somethin’ but ahhh, I guess it is a real accent. Cool.

haha nadia g! yeah, she’s french quebecer, which explains the accent. as much as i’m happy a local girl is getting exposure, i find her pretty annoying. are her recipes any good, tho?

@catherine I bought her cookbooks a few weeks ago, and for cookbooks, they are super entertaining. They have all these cute jokes and Nadiaisms. The recipes are good. I’m cooking her Pasta Forno tonight as a matter of fact.

People often add too much salt in their recipes without realizing it until it’s too late, but do not worry. There is a way to fix this! Add two peeled and chopped raw potatoes to the dish, and then allow it to simmer for around 15 minutes. The potatoes help absorb the extra salt. For a dish that is tomato-based, just put a few more tomatoes in and let them cook until they’re tender. These will dilute the extra salt..’
