A Secret Treasure in Queens:Funtopia!

There is this very sh*tty mall in Queens near my house that I’ve driven by a million times but have never gone in because it boasts a selection of stores such as Conway, BJ’s, Burger King, Weight Watchers, Petland Discount and a place called Funtopia. Recently I was driving behind a bus that had and ad for Funtopia and right then and there I vowed to go check it out (see advertising works!). The mall is very old and it’s heyday must have been in 1982. It’s one of those sketchy places that will probably be shutdown soon like every other cool thing in NYC.
We went to Funtopia for the first time and it is awesome!!! It beats the pants off the yuppie Mamalus that we usually take Fritz to play at in Williamsburg. It costs 8 bucks to enter and is filled with old school arcade style games that spit out tickets to redeem for things like that woven paper Chinese finger torture device, yo yos shaped like hamburgers and all kinds of other little plastic junk. And for your 8 bucks you get to come back one more time with your receipt for FREE! So I we went on Saturday and Sunday! Funtopia also has a giant tube and slide structure, ball pit, lazer tag and bumper cars. It also has a party section which looks like a night club for kids. I mostly love it because it reminds me of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
